The National Center for Arts Research (NCAR) at Southern Methodist University has just released its Top 20 List of Most Vibrant Arts Communities, and Rochester made the list as the 17th most vibrant arts community among large cities. Mayor Lovely Warren said, “The City of Rochester’s commitment to the arts has landed us on the NCAR’s list for the third time in four years and illustrates our dedication to our citizens and the arts community as a whole.”
In a time when threats to eliminate arts funding and tax laws that affect charitable giving are changing, it is more important than ever to celebrate the essential role the artws and culture play in making communities better places to live, serve as engines of job creation and economic growth and contribute to social well-being. Communities and funders that are leaders in the arts recognize the power of arts and culture to transform communities.
Mayor Warren went on to say, “Rochester’s presence on the list makes our mission of creating more jobs, safer and more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities for our residents not just a statement, but a reality.”
