The Cradle That Rocked: Rediscovering Marc Blitzstein, Four Saturdays 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30 @ 12:00 p.m. Composer Marc Blitzstein has largely been forgotten, but for his political musical, The Cradle Will Rock (1930s). In the 1950s he made headlines again with his English adaptation of Kurt Weill’s Threepenny Opera. Although he was championed by Leonard Bernstein, Blitzstein, a Jewish, gay and stubborn political activist had trouble getting his career off the ground. This four-part radio series will celebrate his life through humor, storytelling and vintage audio, introducing him to a new generation.
