From the 17th Century buildings of the Colonial City of the Dominican Republic, the Peabody Renaissance Ensemble and Camerata Colonial perform music dating from the year of Columbus' voyage to the New World and Colonial World Spain, with stories of his arrival in Hispaniola and an historical look at the first European

City in the New World.  Festival Music Director John Thomas Dodson is our musical guide through the Colonial streets of Santo Domingo.

The festival’s performances take place in 17th Century buildings located in the Colonial City and the construction of the buildings coincides with the decades that the music was composed. This program features music from Colonial Era Spain by the Peabody Renaissance Ensemble and Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in E flat major for Violin and Viola. The Mozart work is performed by Camerata Colonial, under the direction of John Thomas Dodson with guest artists Janet Sung, Violin & Paul Silverthorne, Viola.
